Teaching, research, and public scholarship
Anthony Brano teaches English and directs the Writing Program and Writing Center at Georgian Court University. He is Georgian Court’s first Writing Center Director. His work brings together early modern and eighteenth-century literature, book history, composition and rhetoric, and public-facing digital humanities.
His research examines the cultural histories of scarcity, commerce, national identity, performance, and print. His teaching ranges from academic writing and grammar to medieval, seventeenth-century, Romantic, and American literature.
Brano develops open digital projects that make literary and archival materials easier to explore. These include the Romantic Literature Corpus and Artifacts of Capitalism, an archive of texts, objects, images, and material traces related to economic life in the premodern world.
